RiverDell Gets Out to Vote
Residents will be busy casting their ballot choices throughout the day
While the majority of local races on the ballot are uncontested in Oradell and River Edge today, residents still began slowly flocking to their polling locations.
Early this morning there were no lines heading into St. Joseph School in Oradell, while voters who were shifted to Borough Hall searched for parking on nearby sidestreets. The Regional School District is scheduled to have full days in session at both the high school and middle school, which also serve as polling locations. Some Oradell residents will be heading to different polling locations today as parts of the borough are still without power.
"Luckily mine didn't change," Cheryl Ziller of Oradell wrote on RiverDell Patch's Facebook. "And I was there at 7:15 am."
Oradell council members Donna Alonso and James Koth are running unopposed, while voters will have to choose between Michael Gardner and Patrick Gallagher for the lone open Oradell seat on the Regional Board of Education. Oradell Board of Education members Katherine Norian, Christine Robertson and first time candidate Andrew Oddo are all unopposed this year.
River Edge Republican council incumbents Paul Cordts and Anthony Cappola are seeking re-election over challenger Vito Acquafredda.
River Edge Board of Education members Gyuchang Sim, Colin Busteed and Wendy Walker and River Dell Board of Ed members Joe Manzelli and Claudia O'Neill are all involved in uncontested races.
Polling locations in River Edge and Oradell are open until 8pm. Click here for the full recap on poll locations and district information.
