River Dell to Stream Graduation Live
Due to Thursday's heat, family members can watch commencement inside the high school
In anticipation of Thursday's forecast for staggering temperatures and humidity, residents who are attending the 5pm Class of 2012 Commencement Ceremonies will have the option of watching a live broadcast inside the high school.
The National Weather Service is calling for a forecast of 101 degrees on Thursday and the excessive heat can cause a variety of health issues for people of all ages, although it is strongly encouraged that the elderly and young children limit their exposure.
"If there are members of your family or friends who should not be exposed to the heat and humidity, a live broadcast of the entire commencement ceremony will be available in the high school auditorium, library, and cafeteria, all of which are air conditioned," River Dell Principal Lorraine Brooks posted on the regional website.
In addition, graduation will be televised live on:
- Channel 28 for Fios
- Channel 77 for Cablevision
- www.riverdell.org/rdtv (live stream on our website).
Both graduates and family members are encourage to stay hydrated throughout the ceremony and bring water; dress appropriately for the heat; and if need be move young children or the elderly indoors to watch commencement in the air conditioned high school.
