River Dell Makes List of Top 1,000 High Schools
Per Newsweek, River Dell ranks 710 on the list of best public high school nation-wide.
The Regional High School checked in at #710 in Newsweek's 2012 issue of America's best public high schools after spending the past two years bouncing around in the ranks. Last year the district was ranked 298 out of a field of more than 1,100 of America’s top public high schools; 2010 placed River Dell 1,246 out of more than 1,600 schools.
River Dell checks in with a 99 percent graduation rate, a 0.2 on AP tests taken, a 94 percent college-bound rate, an average SAT score of 1591, an average AP score of 3.8 and total score of 0.32.
For comparison sake, other nearby open enrollment high schools ranked accordingly: Cresskill at No. 166, Tenafly at No. 198, Ridgewood at No. 273, Northern Highlands Regional at No. 281, Glen Rock at No. 287, Northern Valley Demarest at #301, and Paramus at No. 742.
According to the magazine, “this year’s ranking highlights the best 1,000 public high schools in the nation—the ones that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads. The list is based on six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate (25 percent), college matriculation rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and AP courses offered per student (5 percent).
