REFD Returns from Assisting Toms River

Engine 2 spent 36 hours assisting their fire service brothers in Toms River

From early Sunday, Nov. 4 until late Monday, Nov. 5, members of the River Edge Fire Department were deployed to assist their fire service brothers in Toms River.

Engine 2 was dispatched for 36 hours to provide support to the Silverton Fire Company No. 1 in Toms River, along with Ridgewood Engine 33, East Rutherford Truck 1 and Fair Lawn Rescue 2.

During that time, REFD covered all calls for Silverton Co. 1 as all of there apparatus except one engine had been destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

Members were also tasked with patrolling the bay side neighborhoods looking for generators in garages or unsafe conditions, assisting residents with any issues in their home and delivering water and food to them and unloading truckloads of donations and American red cross trailers at Co. 1.
