Oradell to Debate United Way Project This Week

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming up in RiverDell this week

MONDAY: All public schools are closed this week for spring break. 

TUESDAY: The Oradell Mayor and Council will continue discussing United Way's proposal for Special Needs Housing on Kinderkamack Road during its 7pm work session. Their discussion will focus on an analysis provided by borough planner Joseph Burgis.

United Way is seeking to purchase the under utilized borough parking lot on the main thoroughfaire between Mackay and Winne avenues and just below Meyerhoff Place and construct four special needs housings similar to their Allendale projects Cresent Commons (24 residents) and Orchard Commons (10 residents). United Way is currently constructing Airmount Woods in Ramsey which will house eight autistic residents.

WEDNESDAY: The River Edge Zoning Board of Adjustment is scheduled to meet at 8pm at Borough Hall.

THURSDAY:  The River Edge Public Library is presenting two exhibits this month - "Family Portrait" a mixed media art exhibit by Sarah Ditmars and an Autism Awarness exhibit by River Edge resident Kathy DeSavino in the display cases.

THE WEEKEND:  Coldwell Banker of Oradell is sponsoring a Community Shredding Day on Saturday, 10am to 1pm in the realty office's parking lot. For more information, contact Donna Conte, 201-262-6600.

The Woodcliff Lake UNICO's 16th Annual Beefsteak dinner and auction, scheduled for Saturday, 6:30pm at St. Joseph Regional High School, 40 Chestnut Ridge Road, in Montvale, has chosen Nico Santoli of Oradell has its primary recipient for this year's proceeds. Santoli, 2, was diagnosed on Sept. 14, 2012 with unilateral retinoblastoma, a rare childhood eye cancer. He is the grandson of UNICO past National Treasurer Gene Santoli of the Woodcliff Lake Chapter. While his condition is improving, his medical costs continue to rise.

The girls and boys of the River Dell HS softball and baseball teams will make your car shine at this car wash to help raise money for their booster clubs on Sunday, 11am to 5pm at the Middle School. The price is a mere $5 and all proceeds will go to support the RDHS softball and baseball programs.
