Oradell Public Library Celebrates 100th Anniversary

A century of reading is celebrated at Oradell's Public Library.

2013 will be a special year at the Oradell Public Library with the celebrating of its 100th Anniversary of its founding. To mark this milestone, there will be a variety of programs and special events.

The library got its beginnings when a group of local citizens met on February 7, 1913, and formed the Delford Public Library Association. Seven weeks later, on April 19, 1913, the library opened. It was located in a room in back of the Post Office on Oradell Avenue. In May of that year, the library's circulation was 214. By contrast, the circulation of the library in May 2012 totaled 14,467.

On Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 1:30 p. m. to 4:30 p. m. the Library will be open for a special anniversary celebration. There will be refreshments, music, and a few speeches by some special guests.

Mark your calendar now and watch for more information on other programs and special happenings.
