Medical Emergency Cited as Potential Cause for Kinderkamack Road Crash
The female driver was transported to the hospital for medical clearance after passing out at the wheel and crashing into a stopped commuter bus
A female driver had to be extricated from her minivan on Tuesday afternoon after passing out behind the wheel and crashing into a Rockland Coaches bus on Kinderkamack Road.
"Only thing I can say so far is that the driver passed out," Oradell Police Chief Frank Florio said. "It could have been a medical issue as the car struck the bus while it was stopped at the bus stop."
Oradell police officers were the first on scene and had to break into the minivan to allow Holy Name paramedics access to the driver. Firefighters were also called in unhook the vehicle's battery and assist in removing the driver through the rear of the minivan.
"She was unconcious at first but seems to be coming around," Florio said. "It sounded bad and looked bad but thank god it was not. She was coming around pretty good even though she didn't know where she was, but I don't believe she was seriously injured."
The driver was transported to the hospital for medical clearance after the accident. All units were on scene for approximately 30 minutes and the minivan was towed from Kinderkamack Road.
