Man Charged With Trying To Push Kids In Front Of Train

Ramsey Police have charged a Wyckoff man with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to push two Glen Rock boys in front of a moving train at the Ramsey Main Street train station, Police Chief Bryan Gurney said Tuesday.

David Howard, 48, was arrested Monday afternoon after allegedly grabbing two passengers waiting for the train and “moving them towards the train tracks while the train was still moving towards the station,” Gurney said. Howard was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated assault on a police officer, according to Ramsey Police.

The following day, Ramsey Police released audio from a 911 call of a man alerting police to the incident.

Wyckoff Man Charged with 2011 Auto Theft

Wyckoff Police said they used state police records to connect a Wyckoff man already in Bergen County Jail with the 2011 theft of a jeep from a Harvey Court home.

The break in the year-old case came from persistent investigation by the Wyckoff Police Department

Daniel Chaupiz was served with the complaint while in jail for his alleged involvement in the savage beating of a 19-year-old Ridgewood man in July

Judge Blocks Public Vote on County Police Merger

A judge has blocked a non-binding referendumasking if the Bergen County police should be merged into the sheriff’s office, but allowed the freeholder board to move ahead with an ordinance to disband the county police,northjersey.com reported. 

Superior Court Judge Menelaos Toskos ruled Friday that the court could not move on an issue before it becomes an ordinance, the report said. 

While the merger question won’t appear on the ballot, the freeholders could vote at their Sept. 12 meeting to disband the county police department. County Executive Kathleen Donovan, a supporter of the county police, is all but certain to veto the move.

Thieves Hit East Side of Ridgewood Over Labor Day Weekend

A week after warning residents that burglars are prowling Ridgewood's Willard neighborhood, thieves and would-be thieves have targeted homes east of the tracks.

According to Detective Doug Williams, five Ridgewood residents over the Labor Day weekend reported unknown individuals either gained entry into their homes or fled when discovered by startled residents or alarms.

Several Injured in Godwin Ave. Crash

Several people were injured following a car crash at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and Prospect Street in Midland Park Friday afternoon.

At least three people were treated at the scene and boarded onto stretchers then into ambulances in the motor vehicle accident, which appeared to be a two car crash.

Why so harsh JP1?? UNFORTUNATLY....i became ill...about 7 yrs ago ....have been homebound since...so EXCUSE ME IF IM SHOCKED!!! I WENT TO ST. PAULS SCHOOL..DOWN THE ROAD...dont remember such chaos growing up....or YES...IM IGNORANT....but guess its been brining me bliss because i have an incurable disease and not treating people i dont know with such abrasion ....but anyway...
