Garden and Cooking Classes, Summer Camp at Fresh & Fancy Farms

Meg Low wants New Milford's Fresh and Fancy Farms to be a children and family friendly farm that offers an educational and fun experience for both children and parents to enjoy. Which is why this family-owned farm will be offering gardening, cooking and crafting classes to give kids a hands-on learning experience.

Offering classes that will demonstrate farming and emphasize living a more local and sustainable lifestyle is important to Low. Classes will cover how to grow your own food, how to prepare it and how to preserve it.

“Itʼs important for us to welcome the community to our little farm," Low said. "There are so many exciting things happening daily.”

The Low family, who purchased the farm from the Klinger family in 2011, is excited to maintain the certified farm land while educating the community about the importance of local farming.

In May, all children are welcome on Motherʼs Day to pot a plant free for Mom.

Scout leaders are encouraged to book scout outings on the farm. A variety of badges can be earned from gardening badges to healthy eating badges.

“Itʼs great when the scouts come to visit the farm," Low said. "I love to see how excited they are to learn about where their food comes from and how they can grow it themselves.”

This summer Fresh & Fancy Farms is featuring their first summer farm camp. This three session camp program will give kids the opportunity to learn about starting and maintaining a vegetable garden, farm-to-table eating, how a farm works and why farms are important.

Session 1: June 24 - June 27
Session 2: July 1 - July 3 (3 Days Only) 
Session 3: July 8 - July 11

The camp is for children entering the first to eighth grades.

“Being a part of farm camp will be a fun adventure and new experience for the kids," Low Said. "We canʼt wait.”
